We will focus on the Low Middle Ages and view the transiton to the High Middle Ages.
We will study how the Franks (Clovis, Charles Martel, and Charlemagne) shaped Europe,
the role of the Roman Catholic Church and monestaries,
how feudalism and manorialism impacted society,and
how Viking and Moslem invasions impacted security.

We will also look at the causes and results of the Crusades (1096c-1291)
Homework due
Low Middle Age, High Middle Age and Byzantine Empire readings and questions will be due.
