Week of October 13, 2009

In order to understand the causes of WWI we will be studying Imperialism and Nationalism.
The causes of New Imperialism are clear: the need for markets and raw materials as well as a colony to sell finished products. When imperialism combines with the growing nationalism of the second half 1800's the result is war.

For homework we will be looking at Germany's growing nationalism rise to world power in the 1800's.
Due FridayY 22(1) Building a German nation p. 691-695.
Identify the terms, people and places in split page notes. Answer the three checkpoint questions in complete sentences. Also, answer the focus question on page 692, and #3 on Map Skills (p. 693).

Identify the terms, people, and places in split page notes. Answer the three checkpoint questions in complete sentences. Read the biography of Bismarck on page 697, answer the question in bold print. Also, answer questions 1+2 onpage 698 (Analyzing Political Cartoons).

Finally, read page page 709: Concept Connector-Nationalism. Answer question #1 on page 709.
