Decade Interview Project: Due January 12, 2009
Holiday vacation is the perfect time to complete this assignment.

1. Interview at least three different people.
2. You have to write the interview answers down. If you hand these out to your interview subjects and they fill the sheets out your interviews will not be accepted.
3. The interview subject has to be at least 5 years old at the beginning of the decade.
4. The decades to be completed will be the 1950's, 1960's, 1970's, 1980's, 1990's,2000's.
5. One decade will be completed twice. Interview your parents about the decade they graduated from high school. Also, interview your grand parents (or someone at least 20 years older than your parents about the same decade) Identify the major differences.

Don't forget the back page of the interview. What are the major changes in society?

In order to understand the causes of WWI we will be studying Imperialism and Nationalism.
The causes of New Imperialism are clear: the need for markets and raw materials as well as a colony to sell finished products. When imperialism combines with the growing nationalism of the second half 1800's the result is war.

For homework we will be looking at Germany's growing nationalism rise to world power in the 1800's.

Notice the harvest moon last night and tonight. It is the first full moon after the September 21st Autumnal equinox, or the first full moon after fall begins. Farmers would work through the night by the light of the moon harvesting their crops.

This week we are wrapping up the 19th century and getting set to take a look at the causes of WWI.

In class on Monday we will be studying the 12 Causes of War. Make sure you understand the notes. We will have a quiz on this material this week.

Current Events due on Monday-
Find and review a story on the current economic bail out. How much money is being set aside to turn around the economy? Where is some of it targeted to be spent? Where do the Democrats and Republicans differ in where the money should be targeted? What do you think?

We will be discussing the art of the 19th century (Neo-Classical, Romantic, Realistic, and Impressionist) and wrapping up the long term results of the French Revolution and the Congress of Vienna.
