Welcome back from Thanksgiving
break.
We continue to study the Low Middle Ages aka the Dark Ages, and the growth of a major world religion in 622AD, Islam. Some look at the tragic events of last April in Boston and mistakenly blame Islam. Fundamentalist Muslims like Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his younger brother, Dzhokar, may be Muslims, but they do not share that same beliefs as the overwhelming majority of the world's Muslims. ( Note, Muslims are those who submit to Allah/God. Muslims follow the teachings of the prophet Mohammed, who outlined the basic tenants of Islam, which means submission to God/Allah.) True Islam is a religion of peace, tolerance, and submission to God's will. We will see that the intolerance and hatred shown through the terrorist acts at the Boston Marathon and the murder of a college police officer has no justification in the basic tenant’s of Islam.
