CP1 and CP2 homework for week of September 17, 2018

For Classroom discussion this week;
September 17th is Constitution Day.  What is the most important feature of the document that was signed September 17, 1787?   How many branches of government did it establish?  Why?
What is the Bill of Rights and why was it amended to the Constitution two years later?

Does the First Amendment to the Constitution protect the right of freedom of speech?   Is the right to kneel down during the National Anthem to protest perceived civil rights disparities in America protected by the first amendment?  Are your rights to protest the same at school and work the same as the right to protest as a citizen on the street? What do you think of President Trump's criticism of NFL and NBA players?

We will look at Otto von Bismarck and his impact on Germany this week.  Unification of Germany homework is past due after this Monday:27(3), 23(1),23(2)

Homework due  Friday or next Monday 

Two propaganday posters are due  by next Monday:  One pro war and one anti war,  OR  one pro Allies and one pro Central Powers.   Include a slogan, image, and use color where appropriate.  Also, identify the type of propaganda you are utilizing:  name calling, cause and effect,  bandwagon, compare and contrast,....

Book work due for next week:
27(4) Winning the War  (690-693) 
Identify  Total war, conscription, propaganda, atrocity, self determination, armistice
Look at the propaganda poster on page 690.  How do you know it is a German soldier?  Where is he
     looking to? Why do you think it is so bloody?
Read the biography of Edith Cavell (691)  Why did she become an Allied martyr?
Who is pictured on page 692?  Describe the environment they are fighting in.
Read Getting Over There (693)  What is a convoy and why were they used?
Answer questions 3,4,5, 7 on page 693

27(5)  Making the Peace (p.694-697)
Identify:  Pandemic, reparations, collective security, mandate
Answer the two questions on the fact finder on page 694.
Read the primary source on p.695.  Describe how German delegates were treated at Versailles.
Look at the maps on p. 696  List 10 countries that had their borders changed in eastern Europe. 
Look at the chart 697.  List the  effects of WWI.  Explain why you chose this.
Answer questions 3,4,5,7 on page 697.
