1. We have studied the impact of individuals on history.  Choose one of the following, or a person of your choice that we have discussed. Describe their background, the obstacles they faced,  and explain the impact they had on history:
Mohandas Gandhi, Charlemagne, William the Conqueror, Leonardo da Vinci,
Martin Luther (johann Tetzel, Fredrick the Wise, Charles V/Diet of Worms)
Galileo (heliocentric vs. geocentric, inquisition)

2. Feudalism, what was it and why did it develop?  What were the feudal duties of the Lord and his vassal?  What were the obligations of the clergy, nobles, and peasants in the Medieval world?  What was the role of the Church and why did it have so much power?

3. Do you believe that Christopher Columbus a hero or a villain?  Why is he viewed as b a hero or a villain to some scholars? What was the Colombian Exchange which was named for him?  Describe the transfer of plants, animals and diseases between the New and Old World and explain its impact on world history.

4  What is cultural diffusion and how does it occur?  Explain how the Crusades were an example of a successful failure.  Who called the crusades, why did he call them?  Why did crusaders go?  What are the legacies of the Crusades on both the West and the Muslim world?

5.  How did the Renaissance get its name?  How did  Medieval Art and thought  differ from Renaissance art and thought?   How did Gothic architecture differ from Renaissance architecture?  Should the Renaissance continue to be called the Early Modern Period or the Golden Age (high point) of the Middle Ages?    Explain your reasoning.
